I'm new to this site so still in the process of getting used to.. But yo I have a 88 Trans am, its a 305 TPI with 89,987 miles, and I want to swap the whole engine. I've been looking around, asking questions and stuff, and I need help choosing a proper engine/tranny. I'm looking into putting in a 383 stroker, and not too sure about a transmission. What would best fit the TA? Any suggestions.

 

Looking for an automatic or manual tranny?

Automatic the 700R4 would be best - the overdrive best for gas mileage. Other options would be TH350 or TH400.

Manual would be T56 from a 4th gen car - the T5 is not an option, the 383 would kill it quick.
