motor is set on TDC but it is poping like it is on exhaust stroke, confused
I need help on this, I'm lost. Rebuilt motor, motor is in and everything is hooked up. Had a open air cleaner that is designed for Carb, changed it all back to stock. Back up a bit went from 305 to 355, changed the ESC module, knock sensor, computer chip, fuel injectors, and the fuel pump all to a 350. I hadn't moved the distributor sense the last time the motor ran, and it ran pretty good but the computer chip fuel pump or the esc module had not been changed then. It ran but couldn't put it in gear without giving it gas while I had my foot on the brake. After everything that has been changed I went to make sure the pump was good so I made sure I had pulse in the injectors, check. When I roll it over it sounds like it wants to start but it is making a popping sound out of the TBI, air is being pushed out instead of being sucked in. I do not understand, right after it started I started to move around the distributor a bit see if it might make a difference, but it didn't. I hope I gave enough information of my problem, can anybody help or has come across this problem before??????

Did you have the plug wires off? Confirm that the #1 plug wire is on the terminal that the rotor is pointing to when #1 cylinder is at TDC. Then recheck the firing order. Clockwise rotation 18436572. It's very common to mix up 5 and 7.

I will make sure none of the plug wires came off, but they never came off when i was changing everything over. The motor ran fine before, fired right up. First thing I did was upgraded the computer chip, motor started up but then acted like it was starving for more fuel, so I removed the 305 fuel pump and replaced it with a 350. I've also put vacuum lines in the TBI that weren't there before, following a emmissions TBI diagram. Anything there that could be going wrong? One line in the back of the TBI goes to the Map sensor, the 4 in the front goes to the egr silenoid, canister, temp sensor, and the pcv valve correct?

Try the old chip. I swapped a chip in a 91 pickup and it ran terrible after the swap. The chip had the wrong program burned into it. It was a custom burned chip and I got a replacement for free.

I will try the old chip next, now I'm waiting for the battery to get charged enough to see if it will roll over, cause the first cylinder spark plug was like 45 degrees off to the right, moved it back now just waiting for the battery. I will keep posting to see what works and what doesn't thanks.
