Speedo with No Computer

Car: 1987 Pontiac Trans Am
Engine: 350 Vortec
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.42
Speedo with No Computer
I de-computerized my 87 Trans Am. What is needed to run the speedometer? Ive searched and couldnt find anything definitive. I know the yellow box, which I believe is the VSS does it. Will the VSS work without the cpu? Thanks
