Help a new member of the forum with his 350
I have two completely seperate questions...sorry guys haha.
My first question is this: I have a 1987 Camaro Iroc-Z Z28, with the 350 (and only 69,000 miles!) I have owned the car for about a year and it has always run great. Recently it was sitting for a while, and the battery died. I charged the battery on my workbench, with one of those automatic chargers. When i put the battery back into the car, it was running really bad. basically it was surging at idle a little, sounding like it was going to stall out..and then after the thermostat opened up, and the engine's idle dropped down ( i believe thats the correct reasoning why?) the idle dropped to about 700rpm, and if the engine was revved up a little it made an audible clicking sound. it sounded almost like a woodpecker was inside my engine. it seemed to be coming from the rear left side of the engine.
I was told by a few people that apparantly with these cars, when the battery dies the cars computer can get a little freaked out, and that i just need to drive the car at 50mph for about 5 minutes and it should be alright?...Just wondering if you guys have heard of that before.
My other question is, the entire car is 100% stock besides the exhaust. There is a Flowmaster American Thunder series exhaust on it. I really like the sound of a choppy "lopey" idle. I understand the camshaft has an impact on giving the engine this sound. What camshafts (or other parts) would you guys reccomend for a predominately stock engine, to get that really bad *** choppy idle sound. Would headers help that out? If not what would?
Thanks alot,
Andrew

Your first question, I can't help with.
Yes, a cam will give you the idle sound, but cams like that don't play nicely with stock computers. You'd need a custom chip, or switch to a carburetor.
I bet you could get the best help with your second question in the TPI sub-forum.
