Strange Cooling Problem & Stalling
I have a 91 Firebird 5.0 TBI
Last week I got in the car in the morning. Started it up it ran for 3 seconds stalled right out like I just turned the key off. Started back up same thing, did it again, same thing. Then started up ran well drove it 19 miles to work no problem. I get to work park the car start walking in turn around and notice coolant just pouring out of the car.
Radiator was shot leaking from some where up top. Replaced that and replaced the thermostat with a 180 degree alternate temp themostat. Had a real hard time bleeding the system, kept overheating at idle even with the fan on and when I would turn it off upper hose would collapse. After a while of bleeding with the a/c on which dont work, i just use it to kick the fan on cause my fan switch is screwed up. Put on the heat to bleed out the heater core while keeping a eye on the temp so it dont overheat at idle with no fan. All of a sudden at 210 degrees blows the funnell off the radiator coolent shoots out everywhere. After that I did it again bleeding it out with the fan on switching the heat on not letting it get over 200. Now it seems to be full, I drove it for a while with the fan on constantly just to be safe and it runs at a good steady 180.
I just went out there now after letting it sit for a few days. Start and stall is back, happened once then was fine. I drove about only 100 yards to change parking spots. Waited about 10 mins went back out just out of curiosity to see if the coolant was full in the radiator go to take the cap off cold and it has a bunch of pressure starts spraying out. I just screwed it back on and said F it, figuring it was full since it started spraying out a little. Is that pressure normal for basically a ice cold motor?
Any suggestions? Could the 2 issues be related? I am supposed to drive this thing 100 miles tomorrow and now im worried about that.
The coolant temp sensor is not the problem becuase I had the snap on solus on it when i was bleeding it last week monitering the temp. Also changed radiator cap twice, thats not the problem.

Re: Strange Cooling Problem & Stalling
see if you have bubbles coming up through your coolant that smell like gas. that would possibly indicate a blown head, that was the verdict on my cadillac, same issue minus the stalling.
