Maximum height intake for 85 TA?

What is the maximum height intake I can use for a 1985 transAm w/350cid?
I have been using the stock intake from the 305 that came with it and am finally getting around to tossing in a new cam and intake but just can't decide on which one to use. Hood clearance seems to be my primary concern right now.

Does anyone here know the height of the stock (aluminum) intake for this year?

Thanks!

Most dual plane intakes will be okay, but you wont be able to use a 3 inch filter. Going with a drob base and a 2 inch filter should be fine for a Performer RPM or similar Weiand intake. This is for a Camaro, though, I forgot, I think you guys have less hood clearance than we do. You might want to look into those goofy spectre dual conical filter carb intake setups where you can set up individual intakes on each side of the engine. Msot guys just get the intake and make a filter fit. Just dont use one of those edelbrock triangle filters.

Thanks! Am leaning towards a little bit lower intake, edelbrock 2701 or something.
Why should I avoid the triangular air cleaners?

The foam is gasoline soluble and is flammable. It also has a low melting point. They fall apart and get sucked into the engine if they dont burst into flames first.

Thats a good reason! Thanks!
Any alternatives that are low-profile?
