1992 Camaro Z28 will not stay on after warm

The car turn over perfect and idle kinda high when cold. After the car warms up and it driven for about 5 miles or 20 minutes it will just go out i mean nothing car will die. You can hear a big noise coming from the fuel pump like its trying to pass gas and then it dies again. After the car is left for 1-5 hours then same thing it will start good drive good and then the car will take a dive for worst. I just had the head gaskets redone and just installed a new coolant temp sensor and nothing changed. I was wondering if any one can point me on the right direction. Car doesnt have any engine light until it starts to go bad but then just dies. I was told that it might be a distributor any one have any idea. I know when the engine was all done when changing the head gasket mechanic told me about the distributor gear being all chipped up and i ordered it but might just need to get a whole distributor now.

sounds like a distributor module overheating. some car places test them

Okay that sounds like what my mechanic said he told me one of those two can be it distributor or coolant temp sensor and the sensor was changed yesterday. Should anything go to the fuel pump I have warranty so I can get a new one...thanks.

i dont think it was your fuel pumped that made a noise. more like a unburnt fuel in the converter finally said its time to go. I dont think a coolant sensor will make a car not run just overheat. I would get that module checked.

Sounds good thanks k ill try that out and see but I might just replace it bcuz my distributor was bad I ordered a new one for 40 bucks and a whole new distributor is 120 ill rather pay the 80 and know I have a new distributor this way I can cancel that out if it doesn't fix it...would that mess with my timing a lot oand or with my idle... bcuz my idle is not were it suppose to be ita higher then normal. Only reason the car runs is bcuz I unhook the hose that goes to the pcv valve and my rpm is high so it turns on...if I hooked my pcv valve it would start but idle so low it just dies. Any clue???

take out the pcv and shake you should hear a ball move if not, its plugged and not working they way it should. If you mark the rotor to something on the block you will skip the hassle of re-timing.
