rocker arm noise, need adjustments?

Ok well I'm getting a noise from valve covers on the passenger side I suspected the rocker arms were loose or something. so I took off the covers, moved all the rockers and they all seemed find I did upgrade to the 1.6 rocker arms wit the cam and head set up I went with. How do i really know if need to re adjust the rocker send for sure. My car back fires at an idle and driving. That's the reason I thought the valves were maybe sticking or somethin but they seem fine. Any other suggestions on wat it could be causing the loss of power and back fires and misfires?

Which lifters and etc did you go with? It's hard to say for sure without knowing. If it's a solid type or solid roller it's as easy as sliding a gap feeler in there to check.

Loss of power, backfires, and misfires while idle and under some load would make me think of a timing issue or spark plug firing order. It's easiest to check spark plug wiring first and hopefully you find the issue.

Re: rocker arm noise, need adjustments?

They are the jegs 1.6 roller rockers arms with the afr heads that have springs rated up to 600 rpms I have the hydraulic roller lifters.
I know one of the wires has a tiny crack in it but it is not arcing across to anything so i don't thingk that would effect it to much. Wires are brand new and I'm getting ready to check the timing in like 10 minutes so ill kno for sure on that where its at.

Make sure you don't have the wires out of order too. If you put the wrong wire on a cylinder that would cause some issues.

Re: rocker arm noise, need adjustments?

A crack in a wire can definitely cause an issue, whether you see it arcing or not.

If your not willing to stand in a puddle of water and grab that crack while it's running, then you need a new wire.

Also, make sure the wires are all good - new doesn't mean good, I've bought plenty of new bad wires - test continuity with an ohm meter - they should all be close to zero ohms.

Also, recheck firing order (I know, but check it again).

Also - are you sure your were TDC #1 on compression stroke when you stabbed distributor? Have to be on zero on compression stroke - remember there are 2 "zero's", compression stroke and exhaust stroke - setting balancer to zero doesn't cut it, must be zero on compression stroke.

Also, make sure plug wires are all "snapped" on the plugs - I had one 'pop' off once, but didn't look like it - drove me nuts because it always 'looked' like it was fully on the plug, but it wasn't snapped on, and cause backfiring issues.
