1995 Pontiac Firebird, need help figuring out what's wrong/missing in my engine comp
Hello all!
I just bought a 1995 Pontiac Firebird yesterday and some things seems wrong/missing to me in the engine compartement and I would appreciate some help/input.
Their's a couple of connectors disconnected and the seller told me these doesn't do anything... Yeah right. Also, their's some tubing missing where the engine takes it's air, is their a MAF or any kind of sensor on these cars because their's none now right? Sorry about the dumb questions, I'm no mechanic...
I bought this car to save it from the yard and sell it back. Just want to make it work like it did from the factory, no need to do performance mods unless it's cheaper and better...
By the way if anyone have used stuff for sale that would help me get this engine compartement back in shape, PM me!
Here's some pics of various stuff I found that were strange to me... Click a couple of times on the pics to make them bigger.

the big thing i see missing is the airfilter box that would fill a big gap in the front right

filter box, MAF sensor, and the other two single plugs just connect to each other from the looks of it. The driver side should be o2 sensor connector and the passenger side might be for the coil? Oh, and the ABS unplugged. Never worked on a v6, just going by what I see

The 3.4 is a Speed density car, not a MAF so the airbox is missing and the temp sensor inside the air intake is missing (thats one conecter) as stated above the two that are near each other connect to each other. i cant think of the other one, ill try looking at my bros car tomorrow (93 camaro 3.4)

Ahh OK the 3.8L was probably the MAF then. The air temp should be in the left side of the intake elbow, looked like it was hooked up to me.

Hey wow, thanks to all that are trying to help me out! In the elbow, their's seem to be something plugged so I got the air sensor right? So I'm missing only the air filter box? The rest is just stuff unplugged?

Yup, looks that way to me. You could buy a cheap cold air intake off eBay ($45 here in the States).

Yes your right about that but I wouldn't mind a used factory air filter box... Is the box the same on the Camaro? Do anyone know why the previous owner would have unplugged all these connectors? He says he opened the engine to clean it and do some work on it to make it go faster but he look like a dumb a$$ so I'm not too sure if it's true or not.

They look to be the same, but again I'm not a fourth gen owner. As for why someone would unplug all that...umm...I dunno for sure. Unplugging the o2 would probably cause it to run in open loop all the time. Unplugging the ABS will let you lock up. I think you might be on to something by going off his looks

did you plug everything in and start it? If so, SES or ABS light on? And please, remove those "flames"

No I haven't touched the car today because it was raining a lot. I will tomorow for sure! I'm no mechanic but cant wait to try to work on this car!
As for the flames and paint, I dont like them either... I just hope these are stickers only I'll take a closer look tomorow.

Wow I'm surprised someone would like to get updates on here...
I bought a factory air filter box and the tubing between it and the elbow so at least this is complete lol. Look like their was 3 connectors for the ABS alone and none connected to each other like discusssed earlier... I also plugged back both O2 sensors on each side of the engine. I started the car and let it idle for like 5 minutes in the parking and the ABS light seem to stay off and so is the service engine light. Didn't ride with the car since that yet because other problems showed up...
I knew their was likely some work needed for the floors but didn't think it was that bad... Took out pretty much all the interior in the last days and found out the car is pretty much good for the junkyard. I'll try to take some pictures soon to show you... This is an unibody but I know someone who is willing to work on this and his a good welder... He said most body shops wouldn't try to repair this car in it's state.
I dont have much money and I want to save this little bird but i'm pretty torn right now.

Just make sure the major support structures are solid. My convertible has some work to be done, wish I knew just how bad prior to installing the sub frame connectors. Oh well, some carefully cut patch panels and one seat support brace and I'll be good to go. I just don't like welding the floors since they're so thin.
