Hello. I have a 1991 l98 block with a 383 stroker kit in it I bought off ebay 3 yrs ago and assembled it has a eagle nodular cast one piecein crank, Eagle 5.7 forged SIR Rods.

I have been using my stock l98 flexplate and harmonic balancer. I have broken two pf the l98 balancers over the years.

My question is...... Am I using the right balancer? Do I need a 400 sbc balancer? Or or is the 350 balancers I have been using the right one? Have I been using the wrong balancers all along?

I don't remember when I bought the kit if it was internally balanced. I did not have the engine balanced. I did all the work in my garage.

 

if its a 400 crank and not internal balanced you need a 400 balancer and flywheel/flexplate
