need help/ideas 92 RS 305 TBI

Hey all,
I need to get some help and ideas on a fix for my 92 RS.

Quick history: Bought the car in October for $500 buck (not running and steering column pulled apart with a ice cream tub with all the parts)

I replaced the battery, spliced the cut wires back together, replaced the ignition cylinder got new keys cut, wheels, tires, rear bumper, new bucket seats.

In March after tons of Research on TGO I finally decided to replace the fuel pump & filter. After doing so I was able to start the car and the engine ran strong and idled very well. I did a quick tune up and (changed oil, filter, checked the plugs & wires) and everything seemed to be ok.

I got really busy and didn't work on the car for about a month in a half and let it sit (didn't even start it)

I finally got the steering column put back together with the help of the nice write up here on TGO and I went to start the car and now it's idling really rough and will die within 30 seconds. I can keep it running for about a minute or two if I keep the rpms at 4k but as soon as I let off the throttle the car quickly dies.

So far I've check all the known places for vacuum leaks, checked the voltage at the fuel pump (12.49 in priming mode) check the fuel pump relay, cleaned the IAC Valve. checked the distributor cap and rotor, and check the timing and it would still not idle.

after some more research I saw a person say that it could be the Coolant
Temperature Sensor so I went and unplugged the sensor and started the car and engine would idle for about 1 1/2 minutes then die. I plugged the sensor back in and the engine went back to the same thing. So I replaced the CTS plugged it in and tried starting and the engine did the same thing.

So I disconnected the battery and let it sit overnight to clear the computer and tried starting this morning and still won't idle.

So that's where I stand. if anyone can shoot me some ideas that would be great.

Hmm - didn't know 1992 305 TBI had a CTS? Mine didn't anyway.

Is the fuel pump running after the priming?

Do you think it's a fuel issue or a spark issue?

Ya the CTS is on the front of the intake next to the thermostat

I don't know if the fuel pump continues to run because I can't keep it running long enough. But when I did get it to run after unplugging the cts it idled for a couple of minutes I just figured it died because of too much air

I don't know which it is but I'm kinda leaning towards changing the cap and rotor. But I have a mechanic friend that is going to bring over a scanner to see where we need to start
