Timing cover confusion

Hello all. My 83' Z28 has a 1 piece rear main, roller motor from a 1987 K5 full size blazer. The timing cover on this one is trashed and leaking pretty badly. I have 3 other timing covers from all 86-older hydraulic 2 piece motors. The timing tab on the cover on my engine right now is an aftermarket bolt on one, not sure if its in the right place or not, and the other 3 covers I have; have different locations for the timing tab. One cover is from a 74' 350 SBC, one is from an 85' 350 SBC and the other is unknown. I'd like to know where I can find the correct timing tab position for the roller motor in my car and which timing cover I can use.

Thanks in advance,
Jake

You can use whichever cover you like, and just make a new TDC mark on your balancer if it's not in the right spot.

Re: Timing cover confusion

Alright, so after a few quick searches on making timing marks.. have never done that before. Is it really as simple as marking TDC at 0* on the other timing tab or am I missing something?

Thanks

Re: Timing cover confusion

Set it to TDC and put a mark on the balancer under the 0 mark on the pointer.
