Enige Seized up

Hello I have a 1989 2.8L automatic Firebird.

I made the mistake of letting a "friend" borrow my car, and he bottomed it out then didnt tell me. My oil pan got damaged and all the oil leaked out over night. When I started the car in the morning and tryed to drive off the engine seized thus shutting the car off.

Now I was wondering if there was anyway to get the engine to turn over and get lubricated, I put new oil in after the engine cooled off and tried to turn it over, It wants to turn over but just needs a little help.

So is there anyway to fix this problem with out taking the engine apart or out of the car? If not I guess I will be learning how to rebuild a engine or doing a engine swap.

No, if the engine seized up and stopped the car from lack of oil, you won't be able to get it running again until after you rebuild it. Sorry.
The starter won't turn it over, because it's seized up. If you keep trying, you'll probably either break your starter, or the flexplate.

Thanks, And theres no way to get it in gear since its a automatic? I was thinking if I could get it in gear then rock the car back and forth it might make the pistons move?

if the only way to fix it is by rebuilding it then I guess nows a good time to learn how to do that lol.

Re: Enige Seized up

It's siezed up from what happened when it had no oil, even if you could get it started back up, the bearing's will eat themselves alive and it will have more engine noise than ever, then immediately shut off, and be totally screwed. Unfortunately a new motor/full rebuild is in the cards.

Now is the time to find a good 350, and NEVER loan a car to anybody!
