spectre kickdown bracket
anybody use this bracket for the kickdown cable? i bought it and it cant even get close to the carb.. it sets it back so far that its at the distributor, and cable wont even touch the carb with it fully extended....anybody got pics of the stock bracket? i put a edelbrock intake and carb, and CANNOT find a bracket to work... anybody got ideas
Re: spectre kickdown bracket
I think I've used it before. Got about an inch of adjustment range? If it's the one I'm thinking of flip it around so the screws are behind where the cable head slides through- buys you about another full inch forward.

Don't know anything about this bracket, but did you get the 700r4 adaptor Summit lists for use with it?

Yeah, that's the bracket I've used. You don't flip the cable, you flip the bracket around- the metal piece that slides back and forth on those two adjustment screws. Install it so the 90* bend is IN FRONT OF the screws instead of behind it. Allows the cable head to be almost even with the throttle cable head when adjusted to it's forward-most position. Enough adjustment range to work with most cables in most cars. Used that exact same bracket with the stock 700R4 in my wife's 91 Camaro. Also using it in my 1990 C1500 (454SS truck).
Agreed, if both cables aren't adjusted exactly right you will bend that backet up like a pretzel very quickly. If adjusted properly it will last forever.
If you don't like the direction that the D-button is pointing becuase of where the half-moon notch in the bracket is, you get out a rattail file and file your own half-moon notch into one of the other 3 sides yourself.
As an aside... working with crappy brackets like this Spectre unit can be frustrating BUT you will learn alot about proper cable adjustment. If it ain't right, the bracket bends. If a dope like me can figure it out to the point I can make them work properly and last, anybody can.
