low miles 305 cam swap

I have a 305 with roughly between 3,000- 6,000 miles on it. Would the cam bearings need to be any machine work done to it in order to put a new cam in it?

Re: low miles 305 cam swap

well.... it's a matter of choice I guess. If the cam that is in it is removed carefully as to not scar them up any, you are probably ok not replacing them.

Re: low miles 305 cam swap

I've done 2 cam swaps on the same cam bearings, with a helluva lot more than 6000 miles on them. Looked at em with an endoscopic camera last time, a little coppery at the bottom, but the oil pressure was and still is what it should be. I'll do them when/if it becomes necessary to pull the motor.

Cam bearings, probably OK, if undamaged.

Any other machine work, impossible to tell without knowing what the motor is (part #s only please), what cam you want to put in it (by part #), and having MEASUREMENTS of the rest of the motor.

I don't know the exact specs. When I bought the car a few years ago the guy said there is a new jasper 305 in it.
