starting issue

hi , i have 11.6 volts on my battery and it won't crank at all. it seems to me that should be enough to crank it over slowly but i get nothing.lights come on but no cranking at all. put jumpers on and it fires right up. do i need more juice or is it possible my starter could be going requiring more volts? this has happened before when i let it sit for awhile without starting. it just seems to me 11.6 should crank it slowly. once i run it and there is 12+ volts it starts right up.

Re: starting issue

It's not the volts as much as the amps. 11.6 is telling us the battery is drained some, but not to what degree - the amps tell the real tale - at 11.6 it's quite possible the battery just doesn't have enough amps (ie grunt) to start the car.

Re: starting issue

Take the battery to the parts store and have them load test it, I bet its toast.
