What do I need to lower my IROC?
What do I need to lower my IROC?
Hi guys I have an 89 Iroc, manual tranny. It used to have its stock tpi 305 but we recently threw that out (along with most of the a/c and heating components) and just finished installing a carburated 383. Today we took the car off the jack stand and noticed that the front end sticks its nose up about 3 to 4 inches higher than before. The new engine must be much lighter than the old.
My question, WHAT do I need exactly to lower the front end to where it used to be? Im guess 3 inches total in the front, and the back im not so sure it needs lowering at all.
Thanks fellas!!

3-4 inches higher! not a chance. I imagine its slightly lighter with aluminum parts ect. but....
The springs/shocks just have to settle, give it a nice heavy jounce. Also make sure springs are seated correctly.
If its still a couple of inches higher or even really 4" like you say, drop spindles in combination with lowering springs. Suspension geometry will be off.

I don't care if you took out 200lbs worth of stuff it would not sit 4" higher. There is something else wrong.
