Bought a rat... 1989 IROC vert... ran rough...
Car described as mint, but needs a little of everything... On its maiden voyage it died half way home and I needed to get it towed... It ran ok for about 40 minutes then would die and not start... just sputter, bog down, and die. Call me stupid but I feel the need to save it!
A friend owns a service shop so we hooked it up to his engine monitor and watched. Everything seemed fine then it started to try to keep itself running by adjusting mixture, etc and would die after 30-45 minutes.
We checked the alternator which seemed to be functioning and saw that once warmed up it was putting out some AC power indicating a diode was failing. We didn't think that was the issue but AC could cause havoc to a computer... we replaced the alternator and the same thing happened.
A bit more checking led us to two injectors that were failing once warmed up. Resistance dropped to near zero when hot. I just did a swap of all 8 injectors using the Bosch plug and play units from Southbay... she fired right up.
Will let it run an hour later today to make sure it keeps running before taking it out for a drive!

Good luck! That does sound like the infamous Multec injector failure. Let's see some pics.

I'd say much nicer than a rat. Was that car on ebay?

not on Ebay, local car a customer saw for sale and mentioned to me... I call it a rat because nothing is really 100% on it... new ac compressor, radiator, alternator, suspension, etc before I got it and now new injectors as well... just needs a lot of TLC... typical clear coat delamination going on, window fogged, steering wheel leather shot, etc... I'll get it looking good over time!

Swung a new GM crate engine into it, then it got parked in a barn... looks like hell now... has been sitting since May 2013... but it's been started and moved. I think it's time to kick the squirrels out that have been living in it and re-do it all, top to bottom!
