Street and Strip Oil Pan

Im about to pull the trigger on a oil pan for my 383 build. I came across cantons drag race pan #13-080t after narrowing down the search on summits website they show it to work on our cars, I called canton's tech line and the guy there seems to think it should work. This is a 6qt pan with built in windage and scraper for 200 bucks. I have long tubes so im not worried about hitting a Y-pipe! what you guys think??

Re: Street and Strip Oil Pan

I don't know about that one, but Moroso sells one specifically identified for our cars which is a 6qt oil pan and bolts right in with no issues unless you have a factory Y-pipe, which you'll have to have a shop modify to fit aorund it. I didn't find this out until I installed the motor, must to my disgust. So I ran open header from where I installed it, 18 miles to the exhaust shop. Got some good looks on that. Did melt my starter wires though.

Re: Street and Strip Oil Pan

Unless you get crazy with the cheese whiz, kiss your Y pipe goodbye with the Canton pan. There is no room between the K member and the pan for a Y pipe, and if you go in front of the pans sump, the Y will go under the K member, and hang lower than the pan. Long story short, I installed that one last winter, and it motivated (forced) me to scrap my entire exhaust. And 700r4 .
