Re: Good looking?

By what I can see in the pics, it makes me wonder if block was cleaned after any machine work was done. Looks like alot of flushing and filters to clean it out. I would even put a magnet on the filter to help catch all you can. Good luck!

Re: Good looking?

Yeah it was cleaned well after machineing.I used my 1800psi power washer and even mild soap.I do that after getting every block back.Made sure to spray out all the oil galleys as well.I had to wipe dry the cylinders and main bores so they could be oiled quickly. But the rest got blown out with compressed air and quickly coated with WD40.
I used the old roller lifters and cam they were in nice shape from looking and measureing them.Im a little bummed out here.Ima change the oil out couple more times and run it for another hour or so while keeping a good eye on the oil.The next time i change the oil if its like this i think ima yank the engine and inspect everything again. Its sure sucks to have to replace the rods mains and cam berings again thats for sure, not to mention the oil filter gaskets and labor.

Re: Good looking?

Magnetic sump plugs are a good idea to help pick up pieces of metal floating thru the oil.

If in double, take the oil filer out and cut it apart to see what it has picked up.

I have a small plane and always cut the oil filter apart after changing it to get an idea if there are any problems with the engine.

Typically, cam shaft lobes are the first engine component to start shedding metal.
