rpm gauge

hey, i couldn't find a forum for this question so im asking here. i have a 90 rs with 305 t5. as most of you know, the gauge cluster is basically crap. my trip quit working after i tried to reset it one day. since ive owned the car the idle always seemed a little to high. idle is about 1500. when im cruzing at 70 mph my rpm says im doing 5k. which is a jump since i bought the car, it use to read 4500. either way i knew something was wrong. what im basically asking is if anyone can tell me the speed your going per gear when you hit redline. only reason im asking is because, well.. i want to know when my engine is going to red line! lol thanks.

Re: rpm gauge

Look in electronics for the sticky "90-92 tach fix". This will help you out and not have to guess what RPM your're at.

Re: rpm gauge

I've got the same engine and trans you have. When I'm going down the freeway in 5th gear,at 73 mph I'm turning about 2000 RPM, so practically lugging it unless I'm in fourth. When you're cruising at 70 in fourth, you're turning about 3000 RPMs
