Fuel valve
Hi,
I have 91 305 firebird which I will change the fuel filter. According to the service manual I have to release the fuel pressure at the fuel valve.
Where is the fuel valve in the engine? Is this the only way release the pressure of the fuel system?
Thanks in advanced!

Re: Fuel valve
TBI car doesn't have the valve. Just open the cap to relieve pressure. You'll get gassed when you remove the filter, but it's nothing some cat litter won't take care of - just put out that cig before you proceed.

Yes, will only spill the gas from the line and filter. Seems like alot at the time, but it's really not like you're losing gallons or anything - might lose 8 oz. but when it's dripping all over your arms it seems like alot. Be prepped to have a gas soaked shirt and jump in the shower right after - if your like me the raw gas stings/burns the skin anywhere except on my hands - when I did mine my shoulder and chest got covered - but like I said it's only maybe a cup of gas.
Don't get me wrong - if you disconnect a line, and leave it hanging, eventually the entire tank will drain out as it's lower than the tank and thus a siphon effect occurs. But it's like a leaking faucet, not like a running faucet. Just have to man up and get wet with gas for a few moments until your done.
OH - important ... make sure to use TWO wrenches - one on the line and one on the filter - you don't want to mess up the lines and have to redo them.

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Fuel valve
Start the engine; unplug the fuel pump relay; wait till the engine dies. (won't take more than a couple seconds)
