Testing Wires to starter

IM about 99.99% sure the solenoid is bad on my starter is out, it dont even click some of the time, but yet its pulling amps like its trying to do something, anyway i just wanna make sure it is the starter and not the car wiring

anyway, the big hot wire to the solenoid is always hot, and then the little wire to the little lug on the side of the solenoid sould power up when you move the key to start correct??

vatts is ok as the light does not flash, and it comes on like normal for a few seconds

Re: Testing Wires to starter

the starter should have a big post on the main body, thats where the battery and the main power wires go. then it should have a smaller post on the solenoid that has 1 purple wire going to it. the purple wire only gets power when you turn the key.

If the purple wire doesn't get 12v+ when key turned, could be any number of things: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=38
