Intermittent Starter Engagment

Sometimes when I go to start the car I will turn the key to start and it will just make a single click noise. Then I turn the key off and on and it will start just fine.

Is this the starter or starter solenoid...does this car have a separate solenoid? If so where is it at and does it sound like it needs to be replaced?

Thanks

Re: Intermittent Starter Engagment

make sure your batt cables are clean and tight.
If its still acting up it could be the solenoid bad or starter switch/relay

Mine started doing that and I just swapped the whole starter out with a $49 reman. You can do the online coupon thing with some parts stores and get it even cheaper.

The solenoid is on the starter and they are cheap if you want to go that route first, but the whole starter with a lifetime would probably be your best bet unless you find loose wires or something.

In mine, the connector to the neutral safety switch won't stay fully connected, and a zip tie solved my issue. But you'll need to trace out your own gremlin.
