Hey guys ripped apart my newly acquired 87 iroc to replace head gaskets.. I have been told to have the heads milled by some and not to bother by others. Heads are original and cast iron and everything seems to look fine. This is not a commuter just a weekend fun car. Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to have to bring them in for nothing.

 

While they are off, you should at least have them checked. But they are likely fine, these cast iron heads are very durable.

 

be a good time to do valve stem seals

 

Definitely take the opportunity for valve stem seals and if you're feeling flush, get the machine shop to check the guides and replace if required.
