Speedo Inop with 5 speed
I bought a 92 RS with a 3.1 and 5 speed. The speedo does not work and my question is does the 5 speed have a vss at the trans or is it cable driven. If it is the VSS type is their any voltage readings that I can take from it to determine if its bad or if the speedo is bad.
Thanks in advance,
Deron

Re: Speedo Inop with 5 speed
The VSS is in the transmission. The ECM buffers the signal and sends it on to the speedometer. See if the cruise control works. If so then the speedometer is most likely bad. Although it can also be the ECM.
The output of the VSS is a AC signal. Can measure it with a DVM.
