Build up on fuel pressure regulator. Help!!
Build up on fuel pressure regulator. Help!!
Car is 1987 camaro 5.0l Iroc z28. I been having fuel problems with this car. Im getting way too much pressure at the fuel rail (65psi.) If im correct it should be around 45lbs. I bought a new fuel pump and a new fuel pressure regulator. My question is upon replacing the fuel pressure regulator when i took it off i have found some kind of while build up on the inside. It looks like is could be sand or sugar but when it dries it becomes like white powder. Im hoping that someone here can help me out or if anyone has seen this before. At this point i dont know which way to proceed. Should i flush the gas tank and or gas lines or just clean aroung the regulator and reinstall along with the pump. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Sounds like the return line is plugged up, Do you have any enemies? Some have been known to put sugar in the gas tank. I'd clean everything up since you have the tank out. Use compressed air to blow out the lines.

Wow..You were right .took the fuel rail off and the return line is clogged with that stuff. I am not sure if its sugar or sand or just build up. i dont really have any enemies an the car is always in the garaged except once in a while for rides. I am going to try blowing out the return line .and im going to drain the fuel tank.and blow air through the lines. Install a new Ac delco fuel pump a new fuel filter a new adjustable fpr. Any other suggestions. is there an easy way to check if the injectors are clogged? i really dont want to do this again.
thanks again
