Re: 355 with vortec heads
i just spoke to alex from the website greggy posted. he told me to run 110lbs on the seat with a ft cam, 130lbs is to much for a ft. the part number listed in greggys post is for roller cams but alex offers the same kit for ft cams with 110 lbs on the seat.

Re: 355 with vortec heads
Disregard my last post...I read the first few posts saying you had a roller block and you were considering roller cam.
flat tappet can use 110-130 on the seat but need to keep open pressures down. 110 on the seat wil be fine just note what open pressures those springs have.
if you wanted a beehive, try factory LS6 springs. 90lbs seat, something like 250 open or so, i forget the specs.

Re: 355 with vortec heads
anyone know what most double roller timing kits say up to 1991? what did they change after 91 that makes these now work? i purchased the comp 2100 and tried to thread my ARP cam bolts in and they rubber on the sides and made it impossible to put a socket on, so i took it back. anyone know a good set to use?

Not sure what the difference would be. I am using a Rollmaster by Romac. Double roller 9 way adjustable.

Re: 355 with vortec heads
i was wondering that myself, and someone told me to just call any company that sells camshafts and tell them your block size and bore, what type of heads your running 64cc, 68cc, 76cc.... and the stroke, and what you plan on doing with the vehicle. full out race, street strip, or daily driver. and they will custom grind you a cam for around the same price as just buying one (guessing) and hoping it works with your set up.... atleast thats what i plan on doing..

Are your pistons really .040 in the hole from the deck? That's a LONG way... Definitely cause for concern. They need to be about even with the deck, then you in theory put a .040 head gasket on it and have the ideal quench.
