CONFUSED ON GEAR RATIO..HARD QUESTION
1992 camaro that came with L98 auto. G92 body obviously. Now has a 350 4 bolt. Block says its 1969-1978 truck or corvette. I swapped in a T5 from hawks third gen. with a 1985 corvette flywheel to fit with larger crank. I have a 2.73 non posi in the rear. from a 1982 camaro coupe which had a 305 with the metric 3 speed auto. T5 is Borg-Warner/Worldclass.
NOW...why am I in 5th gear...60mph...and the tach says 3,000 rpms?
The motor is carbed...distibutor is vacum sec.
wheels are 16 stock alloys with 245/50/16. what is up?
ALSO...when at idle. she reads 1,000. I turned it up when I did the 5 speed swap. So it makes me think the tach is right....but could the tach be off as it climbs higher?

Re: CONFUSED ON GEAR RATIO..HARD QUESTION
Either the tach is wrong or your gear ratio is shorter than you think. Most likely the tach. they're known to be inaccurate.
