1991 Firebird 305 with throttle body

Looking for suggestions...
I changed the intake manifold due to an overheating problem... Put back together and engine just turns but does not start. Does not even kick... The engine is getting fuel and spark...Confirmed the wires are on correctly and rotated the cap back and fourth...
Is there anything that I am missing? Any ideas would greatly be appreciated..

Thanks...

Re: 1991 Firebird 305 with throttle body

you put the distributir in way off.

There are 2 ways to resolve that

one- remove the distributor, get #1 to tdc and reinstall the distributor

two- find tdc and just connect plug wire #1 to that post on the distributor, reconnect the other 7 following that order and be done with it

Re: 1991 Firebird 305 with throttle body

torque- thanks for your reply.
We took the old cap, cut a hole in the top of it, turned the crank shaft until the timing mark was at 0 degrees and then lined up the #1 plug wire with the rotor. Then we tightened down the distributor, removed the old cap with the hole in it and installed the new cap and all the wires. It should be dead on. Any other suggestions wold be greatly appreciated...

You might have to turn the dist. alittle. Do you have a timing light after you get it started? Follow the emissions sticker for the procedure & specs.

the timing mark hits 0 twice, one for tdc on #1 and one exactly 180* out. pull #1 plug and turn the engine over with a finger in the spark plug hole till you feel compression. then line up the mark to 0* and see where the pointer points. i bet money its 180* off.

Thanks Travis... That was it... The Distributor was in 180 degrees off..Rotated and it started right up... I could swear I put it in exactly as it came out!...
