Help with my new Camaro
Help with my new Camaro
Hey guys, I just recently purchased a 1990 Camaro V8 305 RS for 3500, its got 130k miles on it, and I'm wanting to start working on it. I just got it registered and paid taxes, so now I want to work on the engine.
I've already changed the oil, and after briefly looking at one of my spark plugs, it's pretty clear that I need to replace them soon. My problem is that I'm having difficulty getting my hand into my engine on the passenger side so I'm not sure how to change them on that side. Also which kind of spark plugs should I get, I'm wanting to get the highest quality possible.
I'm pretty sure that I need a new air filter as well, so any recommendations there? I got two tires changed, but my brakes are squeaky so any kind of advice on what to do for that? And my car idles very high while parked, it's maybe at 1300 while parked, I'm assuming that's high because when I put it in drive it drops to 600...
Any other things I should do to help tune the car up?

Re: Help with my new Camaro
Pass side plugs more easily accessed from the bottom. Platinum/iridium is a good place to start. Clean the friction surfaces of the rotors/drums. A quality paper filter will serve your needs quite well, for now. Bad IAC or vac leak on a wandering idle.
