when i turn key over the engine just clicks once then nothing, I repeat the process two or three times then, engine starts fine. When i turn it off and try to start again it takes a couple more times before starting. Should I change starter? this is my first post, but I've been a fan of this site for a while now!!

 

Make sure you battery terminals are tight. Clean them up if needed. If that doesn't fix it have the starter tested.

 

Usual fault is contacts in the starter are worn; not making perfect contact
assuming your battery is good and batt cables have good clean / tight connections at both ends
Depending on starter type ,often the contacts can be removed and rotated 180 degrees to give a new contact spot without having to replace the contacts ( cheaper than a new starter)

 

It's probably your ignition switch. Do you know how to start your car at the starter itself? If it starts fine that way , it is more than likely your ignition switch.

 

Mine did something similar. It ended up being the starter enable relay in the drivers side kick panel
