EGR?

So I recently got this 1989 Camaro RS with the 2.8l V6. You are all familiar with it. The guy I bought it from said it was a great car, lots of work under the hood. Heads are ported, polished, reseated, etc. Estimated 600 dollars was the total shop time paid on it. Cold air intake, clean EVERYTHING under the hood. But... She bogs out when you get to 3.5k RPMs. He claimed it was the injectors. So I got a nice set of Bosch performance injectors, new plugs, and a new O2 sensor to boot. Still bogs. Now, it eats gasoline like no other as well. Lots of torque in the low end but chugs out and will die on hard acceleration. Checked the timing, got everything squared away. All Vaccuum seems to be sealed. Hooked up a diagnostics tool a friend has. Forget the name offhand, but it threw a error. Said my EGR was failing. Looked closer under the hood and guess what? Not there at all. Now, according to my research, the lack of the EGR could attribute to the gas milage issue and the mid to high RPM chugging. But I'm yet to find any sort of "how to" block the EGR off completely. Does anyone have any help or suggestions? I need this car to be my daily driver. Already have a lot put into her as well.... OH, there is an MSD in as well. Brand new.

Re: EGR?

I'd start by checking the fuel pressure & leak down rate.
Make sure the timing advances when you rev it.
Check the tps.
Check the ground wires, esp. the ecm grounds, usually at the back of the heads.
Egr should come off the pass side exhaust manifold, if gone then there should be block off plates. He might have got rid of the egr solenoid too, which will cause the CEL to come on.
If the PO did alot of mods & didn't do any tuning, then it could be part of the problem too.
