Ignition problem

When I bought the car, you turned the key and it started up right away. After a while the key would no longer start the car so I had to wire in a switch to the starter motor. Thinking it was a problem with the ignition (where you put the key in) I paid a guy to replace the ignition. I even had a locksmith make a new key with the right resistor in it. When I got the car back, I turned the key and it started up perfectly. After about 4 turns of the key, it went back to not being able to start without the push start button. WTF?! It was all brand new parts and that job wasn't cheap. Now I'm back to where I started.. Anybody know something that I don't know?? Any help would be awesome.

Re: Ignition problem

Your problem doesn't sound like it's the lock cylunder, it's the ignition switch. When the guy replced the cylinder, he likely jarred the switch enough so that you got a couple of starts out of it. First adjust the switch (it slotted) or if no, replace the switch. They aren't expensive.
