My car thinks it is an owl

So on occassion my car like to make hooting sounds which I have pinointed to be coming from under the car next to the exhaust. So it only happens when I am idling or driving without putting any load on the car. Quite frankly I find it hillarious as does anyone else that gets in the car but I am wondering if it could be an issue at the same time. Car is a bonestock 87 Iroc with the 350.

Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: My car thinks it is an owl

It's the "UFO".

Look in the rear axle tunnel, about 8" inboard of the left rear wheel, in front of the axle.

Its actual name is something like "fuel vent check valve". Dealer-only item, about $30 - 35.

Is it anything that could cause my car problems or could I just leave it be?
