Found out back in the early fall that my 92 z has a leaky gas tank...but only when it's completely full and parked on a pretty steep incline. I'm going to be dropping it soon and putting in the racetronix fuel pump kit plus fix the leak. I've got a 88 tbi tank and a 86 lg4 tank in the garage if I need to use one. What are some of the normal spots these tanks leak an what do you guys do to fix them?

 

Mine was leaking exactly as you describe, full tank on a steep incline (my driveway). The leak is where the filler neck enters the tank, a common problem I gather from searching here.

It needs pulling and re-soldering, but for a temporary measure I managed to spooge some jb-weld-like epoxy around the offending area. It's held for several months now.

Yeah after more research that what I've found. Thought about doing the recall thing but I'm gona be upgrading the pump and the car is in my garage sideways and on jack stands so I really don't feel like putting it together to go fight with a dealership over it. Almost thought about a 4th gen tank swap like I did in the trans am but then I'd have to deal with the fuel gauge and making new lines.
