Just a quick question, I am currently on the hunt for a 350 Vortec engine to put into my Trans Am. Main reason being is the 305 that is in it now smokes like a train. I am slowly rebuilding a 400 sbc while restoring my car and I really want to use the Vortec heads on the 400, but use the 350 engine while I save up to completely redo the new motor. I know the distributor on the Vortec motor has computer controlled advance, my question is, will the vacuum advance distributor from the 305 that is in the motor now work with the 350?

 

305 Distributor will work with whatever system you have at present (carb / EFI )

More important question is what are you going to use for a intake as reg SBC intake off 305 doesn't fit Vortec heads
