Signs of a bad I.A.C valve??

My firebird likes to rev really high but isnt accelarating but goes down to normal rpms when i give it gas.

I have the transmission in drive this started this morning driving to school witch is about a 50 mile trip one way
sitting a red light idling pressing on the brake it wont do it
but slowing down to go over a speed bump in the schools parking lot it just started reving really high i dont have a tach but i know high rpms when i hear them it started
but giving it gas after the speed bump it went back down to normals rpms
