Pressure ok or replace rings

I just put 305 heads on to my 350 motor. Just did a c.c. pressure and only two cylinders are reaching close to 180 psi. The rest of them are around 150 to 160 psi. I had the heads checked at Napa and the valves and head are in good conditions. So is the pressure OK or should I replace the rings or not??

Was your compression test warm or cold, and wet or dry?

I did it cold and dry. I had some hydraulic lifter problems, so I replace then and know this

Re: Pressure ok or replace rings

Sounds fine to me; if anything, the 2 that are high, have valve train problems (preventing the valves from being open for as long as the others).

Since people don't normally just drive down the road and just suddenly without warning do compression tests out of the clear blue for no reason, I'm guessing there's some history and/or background info to this, maybe beyond just fresh heads. Just exactly what is REALLY going on? Maybe we can help figure out what you REALLY want to know, instead of just scratching our heads over those numbers and arguing about whether they're "OK" or "normal" or not.

sofa, you must be old. I say that as a compliment because I notice how you can keep the big picture in sight instead of being led down a tunnel by some of these questions. Always good advice, even when it happens to be a slightly different flavor than I'd have said
Good call!
BTW, I'm kinda old too
