1985 5.0L HO Minor idle problems.
Well, its been a few years but I am back.
After my 1986 Iroc was stolen, I found a Mint condition 1985 Iroc 5.0L HO with the 5 speed manual only 10,000km on it all original except the battery. Build date actually very close to my birthday. What I always wanted.
Anyhow, the only problem I have with it is upon initial startup the idle is elevated higher than a carb engine should be. Starts at 1200 and ends up at about 2100 after 2 minutes or so. CEL comes on and stays on until you drive a bit (about 100m) and the light goes away and the engine idles fine. Only does it when cold. Flash code 24 with engine off VSS (vehicle speed sensor). Odd, the speedo works fine. Anyone experience this? Perhaps a dried out seal or something on the carb, because I doubt there are many electrical problems on a car so clean. This dosent really bug me just that starting off with a engine idleing so high is not the best for a clutch.
Thanks!! and its good to be a third gen owner again!! I missed my car and if I ever catch anyone trying to steal this one, better hope they can outrun a .45 round.
