Blower motor & fuel pump relay
This is a two parter.
1. Should my blower motor come on when the key is in the ON position? Every time I turn the key, it comes on a super low setting, seems lower than I could select with the HVAC controls in the cab.
2. There is a very detailed post with a wonderful step by step for testing a fuel pump relay that I cannot find for the life of me. My car throws a code 54 and when I bought it, the PO said it was a loose wire to the fuel pump. I used that post I can't find to test the relay, which the results came out as a bad relay, went and bought a new one, and the code went away for one start, then came back. However, in the step by step, he mentioned if the relay ISN'T bad it could be the oil sender, and I wanted to do that test to find out where my problem is. I know the pump is good because I can hear it kick on when I short the G terminal in my diag port to 12v. I don't hear it when I turn on the key however.
Anyway, novel over, if anyone has that post bookmarked, or remembers the name of the fella that made it (Tom maybe) and could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Re: Blower motor & fuel pump relay
Well, I found the post I was looking for. It's here https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/1...code-54-a.html post #3.
I still need someone to confirm whether or not my blower motor should be kicking on when the key is turned to the on position.

When the HVAC control is OFF, the fan should be off. If it's in any other position other than off, when the key is in the on position the blower motor will turn at low speed, even when the blower position dial is all the way to the left.

Re: Blower motor & fuel pump relay
The year of car we are talking about does indeed have the blower motor on very slow with the key on. The G.M. engineers thought it would keep people from killing themselves in the cars by introducing a flow of fresh air into the cabin when ever the ignition was on.
