1986 305 rocker questions

Just a quick question 1986 tpi motor with stock heads are those self aligning rockers or not, just wondering because i have a set of roller tipped rockers but there for vortec heads off a 350. So really just wondering if they would work. Thanks

Re: 1986 305 rocker questions

If the ones on your engine look like this they are self aligning
Note the " ears" that locate the rocker to the valve stem

Re: 1986 305 rocker questions

Look also at the heads: where the push rods come through them, if the holes are narrow slots that fit tight to the push rods, then you CANNOT use SA rockers.

A motor from 86 would not have come with SA rockers. If they use perimeter-bolt valve covers (what 86 heads would have come with), then they almost certainly are not.
