I just picked up a 1986 camaro z28 with a 305. The car has about 90,000 original miles. To start off I installed new plugs and wires, air cleaner, changed the oil, new Holley carb. and performance headers.

The car starts fine but it idles like it has a aggressive cam or somthin. The exhaust is cut off right behind the cat. so there isn't much back pressure.

Any ideas on what the problem might be????

 

Do you know the history on the car? Did it run like that before you put the new stuff on it?

 

Are you saying it lopes? does it pull hard? maybe it does have a cam?

 

Most wouldn't consider that a problem; some on here pay extra money to get that effect

 

lol. maybe you got a couple plug wires crossed? check for vaccuum leaks. did you tune the carb in properly?

 

Turns out the automatic choke isn't hooked up so it couldn't breath. runs like a champ now...
