89 Firebird cranks but will not stay running for more than a few seconds

I bought a Firebird for dirt cheap from a relative and it was working fine before he had it sitting for 3 years. Unfortunately, he didnt start it every so often and only kept it covered, and so the car wont start, as anyone would expect.

All the electronics work in the car, we replaced the starter, battery, and the fuel pump (which wouldnt turn on when we took it out - the new one clearly does), since there was no fuel getting to the carburetor. We also replaced the fuel relay switch. The car sounds good once we spray starting fluid into the carburetor.

I've been told it could be the VATS, but the car sounds like it's a normal start until it kills 3 seconds in. Then again, that could be because we're spraying into it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
