Gas tank issue
I had to ditch my original gas tank from the 84 TA. Kept the sending unit though. The original had severely thin sheetmetal and just a pen would poke through. Anyway, I got another one from a 91-92 Z28. Swapped it in, while I had to wrestle with the tank to get it in, it wasn't terrible.
But now I am finding that my gas tank straps seem to be too short. They didn't increase the tank size did they? The drivers side strap seems it won't reach the bolt hole. While the passenger side one does reach the bolt hole, I don't think it will tighten down all the way flush (don't think they tighten all that much anyway. The panhard bar brace ( the body brace not the PHB itself, seems to be tight on the drivers side of the tank. I'm not going to stress it too much if its just going to be tight regardless, but that drivers side strap seems to be a bigger issue.
So did I do something wrong? did something change between 84 and 92? or what? I have several nice days ahead, and have all my suspension parts. I'd like to get this thing a rolling chassis and get it back on the ground.
