Distributor Condenser (Capacitor)

Got a tricky one for you dudes.

Does anyone know what a suitable replacement condenser (The little capacitor under the rotor) would be? I see a bunch on ebay but they are for older 70s and down style cars.

I don't see why I COULDN'T use a condenser from a 2nd gen camaro as they also had HEI, but the question is would the microfarad rating of the capacitor vary from a 2nd gen to an 85 LB9?

Those are points condensers.

Why do you want to replace it?

That's the part I don't understand. I was reading that the job of the condenser is to prevent a voltage spike when the points open. What is the purpose of having one in an HEI distributor?

I figured being (Most likely) 27 years old It's only $10 so while I have the distributor out why not?

In HEI it's an RF noise filter. Completely different purpose than in a points system.

Standard Motor Products RC-3, if you really need it. You'd never know it was changed, unless maybe you listen to a lot of AM radio.
