questions about cut lines on 350 vortec
i just brought home a 5.7 vortec out of a 96 suburban today and these lines were cut, can anyone tell me what they go too? theyre coming from the oil filter housing.

No, its not hard to swap over, just remove the adaptor, usally 2 bolts hold it on. The standard type adaptor fit inside the oil filter mounting base, its the middle part in the picture.

Yup, just do away with the oil warmer... get a standard oil filter piece that doesn't use the warmer, like maybe off of your existing engine... leave that whole part of the car like your current car, not like the truck that the motor came out of.

That goofy oil warmer/cooler whatever it is can be removed and setup just like any regular sbc. Dont worry about it. Just get an oil filter mount and call it a day.

i still dont understand what i do about the holes that the lines went into, wont they leak if they arent plugged?

Your removing them. When its all done it'll look like the picture I put up.
I do't know if a v6 (which one?) will work, I know the 4.3Ls had smaller filters the sbc.

Oh sorry, didn't realize you currently have a 6-cyl...
In that case, I haven't the vaguest dimmest foggiest hint of a glimpse of a whiff of a clue what your oil filter setup is like because I've never seen one. But assuming it doesn't include an oil warmer like the truck motor has, it probably has a place the oil filter kind of screws up onto the block; you need to get the corresponding parts off of a V8 car or truck somewhere WITHOUT the oil warmer if your 6-cyl parts won't unbolt and re-bolt to the V8, and put those on your new motor, such that the filter just screws up onto the block the same way it does on your 6-cyl. That sandwich adapter thing and those lines will all go away.
