Lots of gas in oil pan help me please guys?
Ok o I bought an 86 camaro sport coupe with a 305 V8 in it but I kinda got ripped on it. The next day it wouldnt start and we didnt know why so we tested the starter and it was good but afterwards we looked at the oil again to see it had been so thinned out with gas that it appeared empty. So we put alot of oil in and it began leakin gas from an overflow in the oil pan. So I replaced the feul pump and did an oil change (drained 6+ gallons of gas and oil). It started up fine but even since I first got it it had a miss from stop to about 10 mph the gas pedal wouldnt get a response so next I went to spark plugs and was able to replace 5 out of 8 and all this did was make the idle worse and the miss more frequent. I was getting more gas in the oil so I stopped driving it now. Im about to have a mechanic switch out all the plugs and wires. do a tune up with a new carb and an oil change. This HAS to stop the problems but I keep hearing people say "I hope its not your rings" why are they saying this and why? Im 16 and this is my third camaro. Im getting sick of project cars. Help!!

6+ gallons?
your probably running super rich, and running super rich can/will wash out your piston rings as well as get gas in your oil. You should do a compression/leak down test which will tell you if it's a carb/fueling issue or a mechanical issue like bad rings in conjunction with a fuel issue. when you swapped plugs, were they the same as stock plugs? and are you sure you didn't switch a wire by accident?

Probably not the rings.
Change the fuel pump. It has a rubber diaphragm; fuel under pressure on one side, crankcase on the other. Guess what rubber diaphragms do when they get old.... guess what happens when that happens.
Just change out the FP with a stock one, and of course, change the oil. Not a big deal at all, pretty commonplace in fact. The oil costs more than the FP.
