92 Firebird Does Not Start Again!

About last summer around August my 92 firebird left my bro stranded at the store after it wouldn't start up. It took us up till october to find out the problem, which was vats, so i bought a vats bypass and installed it and boom it started back up and I did not have any problems with the bird up until now.
Last week while coming back from getting something to eat the car just shuts off on my bro while he was driving it back home. We also tried starting up with starter fluid and it did not want to crank, so we had it towed and are starting to work on it checking everything like the starter, fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, etc but everything seems good. I was looking around the forum and came across a thread about the ignition coil and read up on the signs of a bad coil and my bird had the same symptoms when it shut off, so i bought a new one thinking it was the problem and nope still the same. What else could keep the car from starting up, also can my vats bypass be failing? could that be a possibility?

Try replacing the ignition module in the distributor

Re: 92 Firebird Does Not Start Again!

i took out the the ignition module and had it tested and it failed at one autozone and the guy told me it might of failed due to there tester not working properly so i took it to another autozone and it passed
is there anything else that I can check that can cause my car from starting up or should i buy a new module?

Re: 92 Firebird Does Not Start Again!

Okay. Let's try this again. Will the car start now once you put the ignition module back in? Also, before you put it back in, check all the wiring to make sure it isn't frayed or anything. If the car starts after that, just let it run in the driveway. Monitor your temps, exhaust flow and the catalytic converter until the car stalls out. If the exhaust flow and temps were good, and of course the cat never glowed red then we have eliminated those concerns. Now, take out a plug and ground it to an exhaust manifold while a buddy tries to crank it over. If you have a good, strong spark, then we can also eliminate the ignition module. Restricted airflow like a clogged air filter usually shows up all the time, so we can probably eliminate that too. So now we're down to fuel. Either your regulator is collapsing, or your fuel pump has gotten weak which becomes more prominent after a while, you have a vacuum leak, or perhaps some frayed or loose wiring somewhere. And now begins the process of elimination, without throwing money at parts it "could" be. Let me know what the running in the driveway test results are.
