most powerful 305 on the board?
Hey everyone, its Sunday afternoon and thought I'd ask about 305's who has a powerhouse 305?, I understand everybody upgrades to a 350 or 383 but for those who still have there 305's it would be good to hear some information about them pictures and or videos, I'll have my car back from the shop in 2 weeks or so it has a L69 H.O 5.0L I'll run this motor till it blows up then drop in a larger motor but for now what does everybody think of the 305 and what have people done to make them more efficient and more powerful? lets see some posts! Thanks again guys

mw66nova had a 305 with slightly modified 416 heads, Holley street dominator intake, and a 280H cam put out somewhere between 300 and 350hp. Car was deep into the 12s. I think it ran a best of 12.31 seconds. It may have hit 12.2. But that was the ballpark.
Not the most streetable car in the world, that's a big cam even in a 350. But to make power from limited displacement you have to either flow a LOT more air or spin the air you are flowing at a much higher RPM. Fast 350s are spinning 6000-6500 RPMs, fast 305's are in the 6500+ range, and stock 305 rod bolts just cant handle that. But also that means you have to gear the car a lot shorter, and you need to put a big loose stall converter on it so that the huge cam you put in there can actually work to your advantage.
